Acupuncture for Fertility

Being pregnant could be the most beautiful gift God give for us and all people are willing to do anything to get such a thin. Unfortunately, a lot of people have to deal with the situation when they can’t give the best effort for being pregnant. There is no need for you to worry because there are so many options available and one of them is acupuncture. There are some people who hear the words acupuncture and almost instantly imagine a scene of needles being stabbed into a person’s face as if they were shot with the darts of a blow gun. Small-scale studies indicate acupuncture can increase uterine blood flow. Doppler ultrasound technology shows improved blood flow for most of the patients, and pregnancy success increased.

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Eastern medicine that involves the insertion of fine needles into different points of the body. It is used as a therapy for pain and various medical conditions and can also help regulate blood pressure. Moreover, based on a study conducted by Gerhard and Postneek, it was revealed that infertility acupuncture by pressing the needles into the ears can produce the same results as taking fertility drugs. Acupuncture for infertility can also increase the blood flow or circulation. This may then produce thicker or richer endometrium, which can then promote menstrual blood flow.

When used to treat infertility, specific acupuncture points are chosen, just as specific points are chosen to treat various pains and ailments. The treatment involves thin needles that are inserted into points on the body, although they cause no pain. The main principal of acupuncture is that all human beings are made of energy and there are specific points in the human body that are more responsive to stress than others. If at any point of time, energy is unable to flow freely through these specific points, then it might result in several problems such as health conditions and even infertility. All kinds of fertility disorders can be treated with the help of acupuncture. If spasmed tubes are present, then they can be de-spasmed with the help of acupuncture. However, blocked tubes do not react to acupuncture.

You Should Do the USG

Ultrasonography (USG) during pregnancy’s should not only intended to find out the sex of the baby. More important is to detect the expected delivery, the presence or absence of congenital abnormalities as well as function and location of the placenta. 6 weeks gestation, ultrasound examination is performed to determine the number of fetuses and labor estimates.

At the age of 6-10 weeks is very important to measure the length of the fetus. From this examination, we will be able to know  age of the fetus with an estimated error of about 5 days. Determination of fetal age by using the benchmark period is usually missed last 2 weeks to 30 days. Therefore with ultrasound is more accurate delivery estimates.

To determine whether there is a congenital defect or not, best ultrasound examination performed at week 20. At this age your doctor can determine whether the fetus suffered from Down syndrome or abnormalities in the head or belly (abdomen), as well as the presence or absence of abnormalities in the heart.

From the beginning, needs to be checked the condition of the uterine arteries that supply blood to the placenta. If circulation is compromised, the fetus will be deprived of oxygen and blood so he would be born with low weight because of malnutrition. Mothers should also ask for a growth chart to determine the growth of the fetus. From this graph would look if the fetus has enough nutrients or not. If you cannot do interventions that damage the cells can be reduced. Meanwhile in the last trimester, ultrasound directed to determine the amount of amniotic fluid, fetal position, as well as the presence or absence of winding the cord. At the age trend is important to know the baby’s weight.

A baby that has weigh above normal needs to watch out because it can complicate the process of birth, while the weight is too low also showed that babies need to be intervened by nutritional deficiencies. When the baby’s organs are quite mature but below normal weight should be born prematurely because there was a sign of disorder in the placenta. Better babies are born to prevent damage to the cells.

There are so many factors that could affect the autism, such as Environmental factors which plays an important role as a trigger for autism rather than genetic factors. These environmental factors include exposure to chemicals and drugs.

In a study researchers from Stanford University compared the cases of autism in identical twins and not identical twins who share only half of the same gene. Apparently, cases of autism are more common in twins are not identical, so the experts say other factors besides the genetic triggers of autism.

Other research says the mothers who have children with autism are twice as many who take antidepressant drugs a year before their pregnancy compared with mothers whose children healthy. The risk increased considerably, reaching a three-fold, especially if the drug was taken in early pregnancy.

Environmental factors, such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, or infection can trigger autism in children who are genetically inclined. So far there had been allegations of influence of environmental factors, but research is increasingly strengthening that theory.

How to Prevent Toxoplasmosis

Kemin On June - 30 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

Parasite Toxoplasma gondii infection (toxoplasmosis) can cause serious health problems in people with poor immune systems. In pregnant women, toxoplasmosis before and during pregnancy can be transmitted to the fetus, and can cause miscarriage, the baby died in uterus, the baby’s head size is smaller or larger than normal, blindness, deafness, and so on.

To avoid toxoplasmosis, The American Academy of Pediatrics gives some of these tips:

  • Pre-marital health checks to ensure you and your partner really well.
  • You should get the Health check when planning a pregnancy, so that precautions can be taken in case of toxoplasmosis and other infections.
  • Consumption of meat is completely cooked or no longer part of the pink. Meat that is frozen (stored in the freezer) for several days, smoked meat, usually do not contain toxoplasmosis, but should still be cooked before eating.
  • Drink milk that has been cooked or pasteurized.
  • Wash hands with soap and warm water after handling meat. Wash cooking utensils as well as knives, cutting boards, bowls and former place of raw meat, until completely clean.
  • Wash fruits and vegetables with clean running water.
  • Be careful when eating the vegetables at the food stalls and fresh vegetables make sure it is washed.
  • Peel the fruit before eating.
  • Drinking water is clean and mature.
  • Avoid direct contact with cat litter or use gloves when caring for a cat.
  • Wear gloves when gardening with clay that may be contaminated with animal feces. Clean gardening equipment afterwards.
  • Check with your pet to the vet regularly.

To protect the fetus from Torch infection, ie, toxoplasmosis, rubella, cytomegalovirus, and herpes simplex, we need to do early detection and therapy. Simple and effective option we need to consider is by screening the Torch in the first trimester of pregnancy. This is important because infection can lead to disability and death in infants. In many cases, these infections are asymptomatic in adults. Pregnant women may not know if her baby at risk. Detection and early treatment can reduce the risk of birth defects or infant death.

Around the world, about 60 percent of women infected with Torch that cause birth defects or death in infants 7-12 per 1,000 births per year. Physicians should encourage mothers who are pregnant or planning to become pregnant to get the early detection Torch.

Doctors and medical laboratory technicians must understand the importance of screening for infection Torch. Pregnant women should be given the understanding of the importance of vaccination against infections such as rubella before pregnancy counseling and hygiene to reduce the risk of toxoplasmosis and cytomegalo virus.

Toxoplasmosis causes 5-10 percent risk of miscarriage. In infected fetuses who survive, 80-10 percent risk of eye or brain damage. Cause of toxoplasmosis is a lifestyle because of transmission through food namely through raw vegetables or less clean and good in the processing or frequently eating raw or undercooked meat.

The rubella causes 90 per cent risk of congenital defects, such as blindness, deafness, heart disease, and mental retardation. Many women infected with rubella in the first trimester would be a miscarriage or her baby died at birth. Often found babies born prematurely with inadequate weight gain.

Babies who are infected with cytomegalovirus and survived, 10 percent will develop complications and 80-90 percent of them will have severe congenital defects, such as hearing loss, visual impairment, and mental retardation.
