The higher demand of cosmetic surgery patients,  it makes many surgeons popping up where most perform surgery without the proper standard. It is the duty of patients to research and know the reputation of the doctor who will be chosen.

A good surgeon will not take shortcuts and will adhere to strict standards of care. Patients should be asked to conduct a medical examination or medical permission from their personal physicians before surgeons agree to perform the operation.

The reason is, conditions such as drug allergies, thyroid, hypertension, high blood pressure, diabetes and heart disease will increase the risk of complications during plastic surgery procedures. Certain lifestyle choices such as smoking and certain drugs can also increase the risk of complications. Therefore, strict service standards and comprehensive must be obeyed.

Every operation has a number of risks that can not be eliminated, but the doctor in charge will do our best to minimize the risks by strictly following the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP). SOP referred to as a list of surgical safety, documenting the time-out correctly, not doing too many procedures in patients at the same time, a thorough examination accurately and many more.

Good starting point for patients to know whether the clinic or hospital can be trusted is to check the international hospital accreditation. The Joint Commission International (JCI), for example, is one example of the organization for it.

Patients also can learn more about surgical safety listing of the World Health Organization website. Such information would be useful for patients, especially during the consultation phase because at this site can be seen of the level of professionalism of the surgeons.

We know that everyone likes a good bargain, but remember, plastic surgery is not as easy as you buy expensive jewelry. Although some patients are lucky and only minor postoperative cosmetic problems such as difficulty express on the face and a small dent in the buttocks, some other patients were forced to pay a terrible price, that is death. Therefore, it is important to check the background of the surgeon you choose, “

Women Do Not Need Vitamin A

Kemin On May - 23 - 2011ADD COMMENTS

A new study from Bangladesh concluded that most women in the world do not need supplements of vitamin A.

In developing countries, provision of vitamin A supplements to pregnant women do not reduce mortality related to pregnancy, or on infant mortality, according to a new study. However, the researchers say pregnant women should be ensured to get enough vitamin D through daily food, to support overall health.

“There is very little evidence in support of women with vitamin A supplementation,” said Anthony Costello, from University College London Institute for Global Health, told Reuters Health.

“It seems most likely has no effect, or only have an effect on the population in which there are really serious damage levels of vitamin A deficiency,” said Costello, who has been studying vitamin A in the past but was not involved in current research. “For most women in the world, it may not apply.”

In the Bangladesh study, published in the Journal of the American Medical Association, Keith West of Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health in Baltimore and colleagues studied around 600.000 women for more than five years.

The research team identifies each household in the area who have married women between the ages of 13 and 45. Every five weeks, female staff members visit households to find out – through discussion and urine test – if one of the pregnant woman.

If pregnant, the staff started giving them a weekly dose of vitamin A, beta carotene, or placebo pills free vitamin every week until 12 weeks after delivery. Staff also provide all women educational materials about the treatment and diet during pregnancy. Tasks to different groups, randomized, based on the location of the household.

There are about 60 thousand pregnancies during the study period, with mothers regularly eat vitamin A, beta carotene, and placebo supplements.

A total of 138 women in the study died without any cause related to pregnancy. A total of 10 thousand pregnancies in women aged 20 to 25 years to run normally and smoothly, regardless of what supplements they consume.

Infant mortality at birth and also did not vary by type of supplement that is consumed by the mother during pregnancy.

Vitamin A deficiency has been associated with night blindness in pregnant women and maternal mortality in some areas. World Health Organization said the risk was highest in the last three months of pregnancy.

Costello, are more likely to conclude vitamin A deficiency in developing countries is mainly due to economic and agricultural changes that also affect nutrition.

Infertility is the inability to get or stay after a whole year trying to identify pregnancy. Women 35 years or older are considered sterile after only six months trying to get pregnant. Approximately 10% of women in the United States aged 15 and 44 have difficulty getting pregnant, according to the CDC. Contrary to popular belief, infertility is not always the problem is not woman. Only one third of infertility caused by a problem with the woman, while the same amount is due to male infertility. The rest of infertility caused by a mixture of male and female problems or new problems.

Pregnancy is actually a complex process and problems can occur at any stage. To help a pregnant woman must ovulate, the release of healthy eggs by the ovaries. The egg must travel through the fallopian tube and is accompanied by a sperm that moves toward the uterus. The fertilized egg or embryo must pass to be displayed inside the uterus. Infertility can occur if there is a problem with one of these phases. Read the rest of this entry »
